With a mere 223 pages, at first glance this book feels more like a pamphlet than the massive telephone book-sized tomes that usually crowd our technical bookshelves. However, every one of those pages is packed with useful information, tips, and tricks about Service Broker--arguably the most intriguing new feature in SQL Server 2005. Roger Wolter--program manager for the product--knows Service Broker inside and out, and it shows. He has filled the book with insights that you simply can't find in any of the current crop of "how to do everything under the sun with SQL Server" books that are flooding the market. Wolter describes the product in depth, explains the design goals, and shows how to use all of the major features. He even details interesting side projects you can do with Service Broker, which may not seem obvious at first; for instance, did you know that you can use Service Broker as a batch scheduler?
This is an absolutely essential book for anyone who needs to work with Service Broker.
Highly recommended.
